| Tsunami Appoint New Head Coach 07/03/2008 |
Coach Kington had been with the club since its inception back in 2002, and was the Tsunami’s first President, leading the teams BCAFL qualification and overseeing a successful inaugural season. After various playing and coaching roles at the club, he was voted in as Head Coach in 2006, and led the Tsunami to their only playoff berth in 2007.
He leaves the club to further his playing career, as well as devoting more time to other commitments.
Tony Bainbridge was appointed Defensive Co-ordinator by Kington in 2006. He brings a wealth of experience to the Head Coach role, having played and coached in the UK for 22 years, and is looking forward to stamping his mark on the Tsunami in 2008.
Speaking of his appointment, Coach Tony said “I am honoured to have been put in charge of such a fantastic organisation. I have enjoyed working with Coach Kington in the Tsunami program and I am sad to see him leave the staff. We have some tremendous young athletes in Brighton and I look forward to working with all our returning players as well as a new rookie class in September.
I expect us to be playing a high standard of football next winter and strongly building upon the foundation Coach Kington has laid down. Being part of the Tsunami right now is a fantastic opportunity for any player or coach. GO WAVE!”
Bainbridge is asking anyone interested in coaching the Tsunami in 2008 from co-ordinator level down to make contact via email to Head Coach@brightontsunami.com
